The first seven years of our lives, we are simply who we are. Just as we came into the world, and perhaps just as we will leave it again. Carefree and often clumsy, we soak up everything around us like a sponge. The subconscious takes note, internalizes it, and forms a picture of the world, from which we may try to break free over the next seven years. If not now, then perhaps later. By the time we are 35, we live 95% of our thoughts in the world we first identified as our own. Beliefs make us think that this is just how life is.
Breaking free, breaking open what has been so deeply internalized, is truly not easy. But once you understand that it is only the filter of your perception, a filter that you can change if you choose to, there’s no turning back.
Piece by piece, you examine them: the imprints that shaped you. And those of your parents, grandparents, and their parents and grandparents. Thick layers of limitations and fixed ideas are painfully let go. What remains is emptiness. Space. Air to breathe. Many question marks. And above all, a chance.
The chance to not pass on the imprints that shaped you. To the next generation. To your children. And their children’s children. To break through, to break free, to break open. Truly not easy, I know.
Because the imprints that shape us, shape us deeply. But equally, the values you consciously choose today, here, and now. You select them to actively shape your life. Not to live in the world that “just is,” but to take on a role where you create your life exactly how you want it.
Where "must" becomes "can" and "want." Self-determined and strong.
And free.
